Pluto. Is it a planet? Is it not? When a group of scientists at the American Museum of Natural History decided to demote this celestial body from its planetary status, most of us were perplexed. Neil deGrasse Tyson, who sat on the board of scientists responsible for that fateful demotion, has said, “Pluto had it coming from the beginning! Pluto’s orbit crosses that of another planet! That’s no kind of behavior for a planet! No! Stay in your lane!” Gotta love that man. Then scientists went and reinstated it as a dwarf planet! How confusing is that?
Well, Neil deGrasse Tyson, if you were to visit us here at the Cutwater Spirits Tasting Room, there is no way you would be confused by the deliciousness of one of our signature cocktails: “The Pluto?”
Our Bar Manager extraordinaire, Christian Siglin, created this tropical concoction as a perfect remedy for the sweltering summer sun. Bright and thirst quenching, The Pluto? cocktail features our award-winning Old Grove Gin, freshly squeezed lime and pineapple juices, housemade “Don’s Spices” and housemade passion fruit syrup. It’s topped off with some Peychaud’s Bitters to give it an otherworldly color, and garnished with a beautiful edible orchid.
Cocktail aficionados may recognize its similarity to the classic Saturn cocktail. Don’t let that add to your confusion, though. The Pluto? is definitely more tasty and decidedly more mysterious than the Saturn. We invite you to come in and see for yourself! Please bring Neil deGrasse Tyson with you and we can all come to the same consensus: The Pluto? is one refreshing summer cocktail!
